HAL.
3 years - male - canine - american akita - loner - n/a
Personality: Hal's independence and determination have made him a very resourceful canine, using things around to him to his advantage. Hal isn't exactly a 'people person', preferring his own company than the company of others and this has meant he has had to learn how to get about using his own knowledge and ability rather than depending on others.
Hal isn't as outgoing and sociable as other dogs in Hexasol and prefers life as a loner than as part of a pack but that might have something to do with his upbringing. You could say he 'lacks' social skills. He's never quite sure what is the right thing to say and this can often make him appear inappropriate and unsympathetic towards others. It's not that he doesn't care, although to be honest it's quite likely, he just doesn't know how to speak to others. Actually that's not entirely true; he knows how to intimidate and threaten others. He knows how to make himself appear frightening. This again can relate back to his childhood.
Hal isn't particularly fond of felines but he'd rather be amongst cats than puppies. This canine is short-tempered, impatient and incredibly intolerable so to be alone with a puppy would be an absolute nightmare for both Hal and the young dog.
It may be hard for Hal to bond with another, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. If he is to develop feelings for someone, be it romantic or platonic, Hal is incredibly loyal. He's protective of the ones he does care about, some might say too protective. He can become quite clingy to any females he falls for and he can easily become jealous. He may have a confident, proud and uncaring persona but in fact, he can be quite self conscious and awkward. He's felt he's lost too much so would rather remain as a 'lone wolf' rather than get emotionally attached to someone.Appearance: Optional if you have a photo. 50 words at least without a photo.
History: Hal was born to a litter of just three puppies, him being the oldest. His mother and father were both strays and the two had very conflicting personalities. Their mother was a shy and nervous dog despite her large size and their father was a threatening, sometimes abusive canine. He spent most of his time sleeping and eating the food that their mother managed to scrounge. If anyone was to cross him, they would get a harsh word and perhaps a nip to the leg. Hal never understand why his mother stayed with such a horrible dog.
Almost eighteen months after their litter was born, Hal's mother passed away. She had done something that infuriated their father and he attacked her. He didn't bite hard, but it was the sheer force of him pushing her in to a wall that killed her. She was a fragile female and she wasn't strong enough to survive such a hard blow to the skull. To this day, Hal doesn't know what she had done or if his father intended to kill her.
After his year and a half of living with this brute he had developed independence and responsibility and he just couldn't handle it any more. The loss of his mother was enough to push him over the edge. Instead of fighting back, he called his two younger sisters and ordered them to run. They three young dogs left, the last thing the ever heard their father say were a series of violent barks and cuss words.
Hal remained with his siblings for about six months and after he was sure they could cope on their own, he left them too. He cared deeply for his sisters but he needed his own space. He doesn't go a day without thinking about them. He doesn't go a day without whispering a few words to his mother. He doesn't go a day without regretting his decision of letting his father live.
Season born: Spring
RP Sample: The heat of the morning sun warmed the thick layer of the akita's fur and at first the warm blanket was pleasant, almost comforting. However being quite a large dog with a body adapted for cold air, it soon became uncomfortable.
The large male shifted in the patch of grass he had claimed as his bed last night and slowly opened his eyes. The brightness of the light stung but after a series of quick blinks, his eyes had adjusted. Hal lifted his large head and twitched his ears. The first sounds he heard were just his slow breathing but after a few moments he could hear the faint sound of the wind brushing past the grass.
Hal remained in this position for a few minutes before letting out a deep sigh and forcing himself to his feet. He was always an early riser, the heat of the sun strong enough to disturb him from his slumber. He stretched out his legs and yawned. As soon as he felt comfortable, Hal sniffed the morning air. The strong scent of grass and dew filled his nose. He looked up at the sky for a moment and closed his eyes. "Morning mom." He muttered softly. Content that he had completed one job today, he took off at a steady jog, eager to find something to stop the demands of his stomach.
