Kayden
2 1/2 - female - canine - Australian shepherd/Australian cattle dog mix - pack - rank
Personality:
Kayden does have a voice. Anyone that knows her can, vaguely, remember her speaking but for a short time. Now, thanks to her mother, Kay is afraid to utter a single word. She flinches almost every time she tries to talk, even more if you happen to move even a little. Everyone she meets now thinks she's mute but, because of her timid, and somewhat cowardly, nature she probably wouldn't say much anyway.
Because she never speaks, avoids eye contact, and even company she might make herself seem rude without meaning to. These days she just wants to be left alone without worrying about someone possibly wanting to kill her. Sometimes she won't even sleep because she has occasional thoughts of someone from her family hunting her down and wanting to kill her for almost any reason.
It's unknown if she would agree or not but, Kay is very smart. Because she has had to live on her own for a long time, Kay is sometimes able to come up with useful and creative ways to hunt prey that would usually need more than one hunter. She can sometimes even figure out how to use certain things that might be useful to her.
Appearance: Selective mutism, low fertility (inbred)
History:
Her mother, Alva, had mild hysteria. She would occasionally snap at others and sometimes cause trouble but it was easy for her pack, which consisted of only family members, to deal with. It only seemed to get worse when she was force bred by an unstable family member. No one knows exactly who it was, they seemed to hardly notice that there was one less family member.
Alva was happy, when the pups were born, that they started to come out stillborn. She was greatly disappointed when the last pup was born alive and healthy. Alva decided to just raise the pup and do nothing else; Kayden would just be given food and shelter, she wouldn't be shown anything close to the love that a good mother would show. If Kayden looked like she was getting sick then Alva would stop worrying about feeding her.
Alva was one of the dogs responsible for caring for sick members. Sometime after Kayden was born, Alva would spend most of her days away from her den looking for herbs and anything else she found useful. She would return to her den exhausted, never in the mood to even pay attention to her only pup. Whenever Kayden spoke, her mother would always suddenly have enough energy to bite, shake and growl at her. After a while everyone thought that the pup had gone mute. As soon as she was ready to be weaned she was kicked out of the den. Kayden was now in more danger of being snatched up by an unstable pack member than being severely hurt by her mother.
When Kayden was close to nine months old, her mother suddenly died after ingesting something she shouldn't have. Some of the pack put the blame on her daughter. It wasn't because they cared that someone like Alva had died, it was because Kayden was always quiet. She never said anything, some became paranoid that she was silently plotting ways to poison and kill them all. She immediately left the pack when it was obvious that some were plotting ways to kill her.
