CALCIFER
five years - male - feline - devon rex - loner - n/a
Personality: If a bit quiet and strange, Calcifer is quick-thinking and alert; being a loner and a scavenger, his surviving can't afford to make many mistakes. Adaptable and resourceful, where his body is not suited for every situation and every climate, Calcifer will find a way to use what is around him to turn the odds in his favor. From finding or making shelter in the winter to swimming regularly or living in a cave system in the summer, making false bonds with others or even assimilating with a group of others for a time, he will take advantage of any opportunity he is given.
When in a truly committed relationship, however, Calcifer is anything but flexible. His voice is soft and hushed, but his words are far from gentle. He is known to be passive-aggressive, controlling, manipulative, and otherwise indifferent to the feelings of others. In his own right, Calcifer is egocentric. He scarcely if ever thinks about the well being of others, even if he does 'care' for them. To him, they are merely objects. Something that could be of use to him, something that he keeps around only for himself. The moment that usefulness runs out, the tomcat disappears.
What that use proves to be, however, is never really clear. Calcifer has shown an interest in many, but most have shown to be quite young. He has little patience for the elderly or the disabled, but the young and lively? Those are the ones that pique his curiosity.
Appearance: Taller than he is long, Calcifer has a bit of an awkward, leggy appearance to him. His closely growing, lightly curled fur sticks to his body, only amplifying his slender body. Coupled with his odd coat pattern and almost colourless pale eyes, he is often times mistaken for a female. Even still, his hushed voice can lead some to believe him to be of the other gender.
History: The final kitten from a litter of 6 and the only male, Calcifer's life was a bit different from the start. In a way, his family was nomadic; they were constantly on the move, scavenging from kills that local packs/prides/gangs had brought down. They stole what they could for as long as they could, only to pack up and move once the owners of the area caught on to their little games. In all the running around, a few siblings were lost here and there, as was his father. The irony in his father's death was that he was trying to poach in a territory he was all too familiar with; his life was taken by his own blood and kin, by the claws of his sister. Having lost the only father figure available at a very young age and having been surrounded by nothing but his remaining sisters and his mother, Calcifer turned out a bit more feminine than most would consider average.
Not that he really minded much. Watching all the big cats roaming around, the females were the real brawn around the pride. They hunted, protected their young, and kept the entire show running smoothly. The males were simply kept around for show and breeding purposes. Calcifer couldn't help being born what he was, but inside he knew who he was meant to be.
Roaming around with his rag tag family till he was about a year and a half, Calcifer learned what sly ways he could from his mother before taking off on his own.
