'Guess I should have known better than to want things to go smoothly.' Even the last rescue didn't go too well. The group had been found and a mother died before she could see her daughter one last time. Once again Gusto's group had been found, the guard they had missed was killed but it was enough to alert the other felines who were in the building. Gus moved closer to where the others had gone. Valk and another wolf were released from their prisons when a lion soon appeared and tried to swipe at Harley.
The lion missed and was rewarded with a bite on his belly. It staggered backwards but, the lions' injury only seemed to make it angrier. It turned on Kai, who was trying to escape with Valk and her companion. The coyote's full attention was on the lion who had Kai pinned down. While the lions' attention was on the dog, Gus charged at its side, biting at its flank then quickly backing away. He was trying to give Kai a chance to slip away. He immediately charged at it again, trying to bite at its other side and retreated once again.
As he glared at the lion he noticed that the two wolves had left without them. Had they really left without an escort? They didn't think they were too weak to deal with the more numerous felines outside the slaughterhouse? He spoke to whoever was near him, loud enough for them to hear. "Valk needs help, we need to finish things here and find them."
(You can powerplay with him a little. Either he stays to help fight the lion or they say its okay for him to leave.)
They came into view when he went through the door and looked down the hallway. Before Gus emerged from the door, a feline has ran by in pursuit of them. Gus recognized that particular feline and snarled. It was a female leopard, one of three felines who had killed his sister and her mate. Now the leopard seemed determined to kill two more wolves. Gusto ran after the leopard as quickly as he could.
Unlike other wolves, Gusto didn't have a lot of stamina, he only had his speed to rely on. He only got close enough to nip at the tip of the leopardess tail. That got her attention, she snarled at turned to see who had nipped at her tail. Gus took the opportunity to try and bite her jugular. Gus now had a wound on his shoulder, he managed to sink his fangs into the area between her neck and lower jaw. He tore away however much flesh he could. It wasn't as large as he had hoped it would be but, if the bleeding wasn't stopped soon, she would eventually die.
The leopardess was now panicking; she was trying to cover the wound and stop the blood for pouring out. While she seemed to stupidly forget that her opponent was still here, Gus took that chance to jump onto her back and bite as hard as he could into the back of her neck. He bit down as hard as he could and spilled more blood from her neck before being thrown off. He left the leopardess to flail, bleed and eventually die as he went to follow the two wolves and lead them to safety.
(Sorry it's not very good either. I didn't read everything on the other posts) )

The voice of their guard was loud in the silence, but he obviously hadn't heard or scented the intruders yet, having just woken up from a nap. Valkyrie spotted Canaan Dog almost as soon as she smelled him - she couldn't remember his name, but she did remember seeing him around in Tempest territory when she had been a cub. Holding her breath, she watched as he crept up on the sentry, jaws closing around the feline's throat before he had time to do anything.
Pushing her nose through the bars, her eyes lit up as he spoke, her bushy tail wagging slightly. "Yes! You've come to rescue us? Oh wait, you don't know - there's another wolf here, his name's Ares." The words were spoken in a whisper, her tone urgent but with an undercurrent of excitement. She was ecstatic, but knew that they couldn't celebrate right now - otherwise both of them and the rescue party from Tempest would have a slim chance of getting out of Iris territory. Squeezing through the bars, she immediately felt dizzy and sat down, glancing back to see if her friend – and the wolf she’d come to view almost as a parent – had followed.
At that moment, the near-silence of the room was broken by another guard - this one very much alive. The young she-wolf tensed immediately, looking to Ares, the panic on his face mirroring her feelings at that moment. A moment later, another figure appeared beside Ryu – Orion! Any affection she might have felt for her brother quickly evaporated at his condescending sneer – her features distorted in a quiet snarl, anger consuming her. Why would he say such a thing at a time like this? She had been an overzealous cub at the time of her capture, for goodness sake! Before she could let him know exactly what she thought of his greeting, Kai arrived – Valkyrie’s tail wagged rapidly at the sight of her best friend, despite her rather unconventional greeting.
Felines were rushing toward them; the young female wanted to fight, but she knew that in her current state she'd be worse than useless. A larger male Valkyrie didn't know urged Kai to get her and Ares out - forcing herself to her paws at her friend's urging, she growled, eyes widening in alarm as the lion lunged for her. She felt helpless - she had no choice but to do as the big mutt had said. Turning towards Harley and the others, she yelped, "Please, do something!" Feeling absolutely wretched, as if she were a newborn who could not even fend for herself, she turned at Ares' nudge, following a few paces behind him, slowed by her limp.

Perhaps it had been cruel to speak to his sister like that, but he had a point. Several Tempest dogs were risking their lives to rescue her, and was it really worth it? What would Valk contribute to the Tempest? He sighed and returned the snarl with his sister. He'd never been close to her. In fact, he'd never been nice to any of his family. Orion thought of his mother, of Adrian, but he couldn't remember a single decent memory with them. He should feel sadness, a loss of a cubhood, but instead he felt nothing. His mother had been an overprotective, broken wolf, who had wasted most of her years away in the Iris Pride. Why had no one come to rescue Rikki when she had needed it? Had she been forgotten? Orion briefly wondered whether he'd be forgotten in this dreary place if he ever got kidnapped. Not that he would. That would be stupid.
As the black wolf fought off another feline, he turned back to see Valk and the other wolf, Ares, struggling to their paws. "I can't believe mother died trying to rescue you." Orion called over his shoulder, before launching at a lioness. Her claws sliced through Orion's stomach and he fell to the ground in pain. Hissing and gritting his teeth, Orion began to back up along the corridor. They had to get out of here soon. The lioness was still snarling and approaching him, and he bared his teeth at the ugly beast. She appeared to be old, probably weak. Orion jumped at her again, ignoring the burning pain in his torso. She managed to dodge, but Orion quickly spun around and caught her neck. She already had many wounds, but Orion didn't know whether it was from this battle or another one.
He held on tight, shaking his head from side to side as she roared in pain. Blood oozed out of Orion's mouth before he finally dropped the limp body. They needed to escape. The Iris Pride seemingly had an infinite amount of cats in their slaughterhouse, and they'd just keep on coming. Discarding the corpse, he looked around at the others, who were all busy fighting. He saw Gusto and approached the coyote. He was their leader, and Orion would do as he was told, no matter how much he hated it, "Should we fall back? We need to cover Valk and Ares before they get attacked." He shouted over the chaos.

A voice behind them made Ryu’s head snap around, only to see Orion’s teeth finding the ocelot guard’s neck. The young black wolf had managed to kill the guard, but nonetheless it was too late. Their cover was blown and now they had to hurry for real unless they all wanted to end up as cat food. His fur bristled at the sound of other felines on the floor below, all on their way upstairs to catch the intruders on their territory. There was nothing pleasant about this, but one thing was for certain; he wasn't going to end up here ever again. He wouldn’t let those filthy felines get him again. He was a free dog now and no feline should ever again be the master of his life.
Orion’s rude comment toward Valkyrie made Ryu want to punch him with a hind leg onto his black chest, but there was no time for that. It was time to get Valkyrie and the other wolf, whom Valkyrie had introduced as Ares, out. ”Shut it Orion, focus on the task; we’re getting out of here,” he growled. Then, as if on cue, a lion attacked Harley and felines of all sizes appeared on both sides of the little rescue group. Kai ran to help Valkyrie and the other wolf in the pen out while Ryu stayed behind to help Harley. A bobcat lunged at Ryu’s back, biting at his shoulder as the large shepherd bit several times at the lion’s belly, making it crawl off with its wounds and as it crawled off. The dual toned male threw himself hard to the ground, luckily fast enough to break the feline’s leg – hopefully the large crack also meant a few bones in its ribcage. But truly it didn’t matter, because as soon as it was at the ground, Ryu was the one with the advantage and his sharp fangs soon found the feline’s windpipe.
The rush of battle seemed to make all fear he’d felt before shun off him. The adrenaline in his body seemed to simply reject the emotion as his strongest and most primitive instinct kicked in; survival. Kai had gone to help Valkyrie and Ares out, but Valkyrie’s yelp soon made him realize that their escort was in trouble. Kai had been assaulted by a lion and stood no chance against the big feline herself that’d caught her by surprise. He rushed toward her and caught a domestic cat on the way, wounding its back with a wicked bite but not killing it off during his run. After all there was no time to stop and kill it off, Kai was in trouble, and that was more important than the little kill.
He flew at the lion, cutting off the delicate tendons in its heels and thereby making it unable to run after them and invalidating its movements. The lion sneered in pain and turned to focus on the pest coming from behind just as Ryu rushed at its flank, biting hard into its thin skin. But the lion was big and smashed a massive paw after Ryu, making the black and white Canaan Dog let go of its flesh as the air in his lungs was blown out of him. The lion stalked toward him, unable to make a lunge because of its wounded legs. Trying to catch his breath, Ryu noticed the blood colouring his fur where the bobcat earlier had torn at his shoulder. The lion was now almost at him and he leapt at it and tore at its muzzle and clawed it in the eyes. The big cat roared at him and its sharp claws soon found the wound he already had received. The pain made Ryu let go and dodge the lion’s next attack, but he could feel how close the lion’s claws were at his back as he dodged the blow. In the corner of the eye, Ryu noticed how more felines were emerging on them. ”We have to get out of this place!” he called out and ran to Kai’s side, shortly trembling as he stopped by her side and saw the wounds the lion had given her. ”Kai, get up,” he said and nudged her as gently as he could while also trying to make her hurry. ”We need to get everyone out of here.” He was strong, but still smaller than the big dog and therefore possibly not strong enough to support her alone all the way back to Tempest. But he could at least make her try to stand up until someone could come and help him support her on their way out.

The lion pushed itself off of her body, and Kai immediately rolled on to her belly to see what had caused it to cease its attack on her. She blinked several times in surprise to see Ryu, a dog smaller than she was, starting to fend off the huge beast once Gusto had distracted it. She got to her feet and intended to rush over and help him, but the lion's claws had cut deeper than she had realized, and she collapsed back to the floor in pain.
At least Valkyrie and that guy Ares were on their way to freedom. That was the only important thing. Kai's ear caught the hateful remark her brother had spat, and even though he hadn't been speaking to her, she had to spit one back. "Valkyrie is ten times braver and stronger than you could ever hope to be, scumbag," she seethed, shaking her head in disgust and tearing her eyes away from his ugly face. Why were canines like this even allowed to be part of the pack? If Valk ever became leader of Tempest one day, which Kai really hoped she would, she'd be able to boot this worthless waste of skin off the packlands forever. Then who'd be laughing?
Forgetting about that idiot, she looked up gratefully to see Ryu trying to help her back up. He was shorter than she, but strong and sturdy enough that he could hold most of her weight. She sighed as some of the pressure was taken off of her injuries, and then her relief soon changed to horror as more cats began to swarm their way into the room like hornets defending their hive. Four more of them, all fairly large wildcats. "Leave me," she mumbled to Ryu, nudging him on the shoulder gently. "I'll hold them off. If someone's gotta die, it's not gonna be you."
Briefly she glanced at her other comrades, who were busy defending against the other cats and ensuring Valk and Ares made it to the door. She was willing to die for them. Even that douche Orion. Stepping forward on shaky legs, she screamed out a loud, deep bark, one that caused all four heads to swivel and glare at her. The cats came at her in a rush and she was soon pulled under them like a tidal wave, suffocating under a mass of claws and teeth that began to tear her apart.
OOC: I'm really thinking I might have Kai die here, but if anyone wants to try and (somehow) save her, go for it

"Speech" There was noise all around him, snarling, shouting, hissing. The echoes of urgent voices bounced about the Slaughterhouse walls and it was disorientating the weakened wolf. Ares paused, shaking his large yet gaunt head slightly as if to regain his once-piercing focus. With a quick glance over one shoulder, the tall male spied Valkyrie limping in his direction; away from all the mayhem behind. At least the Tempest rescue party were blocking the hallway and thus creating a diversion for them, and they really did need to get out of here before the barrier broke and Iris came for their escapees. If that happened, this entire mission would be in vain and any lost lives would have been taken for nothing. The wolf briefly observed the pain and fear in his best friend's eyes as she saw Kai disappear beneath the paws of a lion, but Ares' mind was clearing and somewhat cold to the events. They had to get out, now! "Valkyrie, come on. She will be fine, they all will I'm sure, but everything will be lost if we don't get escape. Please."
His gaze flickered to Kai and the black and white male, Ryu, who was helping her stand. It gave him a spark of reassurance and with that he nudged Valk's bony shoulder once more, before turning and starting to trot towards the door as fast as his malnourished body would carry him. His discoloured tongue lolled out of his fierce jaws with the exertion, there was the sound of smaller paws behind: they certainly couldn't belong to Valkyrie and a trickle of instinctive uncertainty hit the large male. He slid to an unsteady stop and swung his muzzle round, now facing a hissing ocelot that had slipped through the Tempest dogs. Mustering up every last ounce of strength the Gray Wolf contained he snapped his lathered jaws at the small feline's back, as it leaped towards him. Luckily he managed to grab it's thick skin and Ares began to shake his head from side to side. Adrenalin and lustful revenge delivered the black wolf with what he needed and in seconds the ocelot lay bleeding on the floor, the skin along it's spine shredded and the white bone glinted in the faint light.
Gasping now, Ares turned for the final time and limped breathlessly towards the door. He could only hope that Valk was with him because all he could smell now was the fresh air just outside the Slaughterhouse entrance, all he could hear was the blood pumping in his ears. So close, so close.
ooc: nearly there woo!

Rage threatened to choke Valkyrie as her brother threw the condescending words at her retreating back. She doggedly continued after Ares for a moment before the meaning, the implications or his words sunk in. Rikki was dead. Her mother, their mother, who has been so overprotective yet loving. She remembered sneaking out of Tempest territory on her own without her mother's permission, and now for the first tme felt guilt for her actions. But the one thought that quickly became paramount in her damaged mind was that her mother had given her life for her. That she was no longer on this earth because of Valkyrie.
A strange noise, something between a strangled sob and a growl, left her clenched jaws, tears forming in her eyes. At Ares' words, she swallowed, continuing to follow him towards the exit, head down, ears pricked in case of felines attacking from behind.
A few minutes later, she heard the sounds of a a scuffle ahead - Ares had been attacked, only metres or so from the door. She moved to help him, but as she did so, she heard a horrible hissing from behind her. Turning, she saw Kai on the ground all the way back near her and the grey wolf's former prison, four cats attacking her, all the others engaged.
Glancing back at Ares, she saw that he had managed to deal with the feline who had been harrassing him - but the huge mutt was still faring no better. Paying no heed to her own condition or what the black wolf and the Tempest soldiers had told her before, the young she-wolf ran back to Kai, all her muscles and injuries protesting. A cat jumped at her and somehow she shoved it aside.
Ten metres away from her beleagured best friend, Valkyrie let out a desperate howl. "Kaii!" The cats attacking her paid little mind to their former prisoner, and she grabbed the tail of the nearest one, biting down on it and hearing a crack of a breaking bone. The feline gave a yowl of agony and turned on her; claws sank into one of her forelegs, and she let go of the now misshapen appendage to snap at the cat's neck, her other front paw kicking its side in a feeble attempt to get it to let go.
OOC;; Sorry for the wait and overall terribleness of this. Kai could still die with three cats attacking her (or she could be dead by now >.> ; . ;), but I just didn't thik it would be true to Valk's character to have her keep trying to get to the door when her best friend's life is in danger <3 </3

Hope gleamed in his eyes as Kai came on her four, thinking that they now were ready to retreat. But Ryu was deadly wrong. More felines charged toward them and a shiver ran up Ryu’s spine as Kai told him to leave her. She nudged his shoulder, the gesture gentle against his adrenaline filled body, but he felt all frozen as he realized the meaning of her next words. Kai wanted to sacrifice herself to make sure the others would get a chance at getting unharmed out of the slaughterhouse. It wasn’t before the big female stepped toward the attacking felines that he became able to act. ”Kai, stop, it’s madness!” he shouted, but it was too late. The first feline was already colliding with her in a furious attack and her body was soon caught beneath the viciousness of the wildcats.
Ryu looked toward the way out – it was time to get out, or Kai’s sacrifice would be in vain. Ryu noticed the black wolf Ares almost making it to the entrance just as a dark body strode past him to grab the tail of one of the felines attacking the Tempest soldier. “Valkyrie, no, don’t do it!” He rushed toward the cat attacking the tortured wolf, biting its unprotected flank before it could do too much damage on the Tempest member they’d come to rescue. The cat let go of the mixed wolf with a snarl, now turning on Ryu who growled back at the ugly creature. The feline attacked and got hold of his ear while clawing at his neck and he tried in vain to push it away with his forepaws. Giving up at his first attempt he growled and bit its chest open to make it let go where after he ripped at its throat. Dead.
He panted hard and looked back at Valkyrie, leaping back to her as they got eye contact. ”You okay?” he asked her between the pants, but there was no time to lose. Ares and Gusto were almost out, now they just needed the rest. ”Come, now. We need to get away, we have to get you out of here,” he said but felt heavy in his heart. Kai was probably already gone under the remaining felines, but it still felt wrong to charge directly at the mass of Iris Priders. No matter how much he wanted to do it, it was too dangerous and he would only put the lives of others at risk if they stayed here much longer. It was time to get out while they still had a feeble chance of getting home. He wouldn’t let this mission be for nothing, he wouldn’t let them get him here. Not him, not Valkyrie, not any more than they already had gotten. And even that, one precious life, was too much for them to give.
((OOC: Nooo Zen, don’t let Kai die D: And Mac, don’t make me freak out like that xD))

When Orion didn't think things could get any worse, they did. There were felines everywhere, flooding from all sides. He spun around in surprise, not sure who to attack first. They had to get out of there. Orion was arrogant, but he knew he wasn't strong enough to keep these cats at bay. Backing up, he glanced over at Valk, who had just discovered the death of her mother. Oh right. She didn't know. Feeling awkward, he glanced at the Ryu and Kai, who both shouted at him. Pinning his ears to his skull, Orion let out a small snarl, before launching at the nearest cat he could find. His strength was dwindling. He'd already fought countless cats, and his body couldn't take much more of this. Pulling back with blood oozing from his mouth, he took Ryu's advice to get out of there. He was one of the larger canines here, so he wanted to make sure everyone got out without being attacked. It was then that Kai ordered everyone to leave her and fend the cats off herself. Stunned, he looked at everyone else's reactions. He couldn't believe someone would essentially sacrifice their lives for the pack.
Before anyone could do anything, Kai managed to gain the attention of four very large cats, and they were on her in a second. Panicking, Orion saw Valk snap at one of the feline's tails. "What the hell are you doing?!" He shouted over the chaos to his sister, "You are in no position to fight!" He launched at one of the feline's who was attacking Kai in hope to get it off her. It was caught by surprise, and they both tumbled to the ground in a flurry of claws and teeth. Orion wasn't sure how he managed to kill it, but by the time Orion was finished with it, the feline was lying dead on the ground. He didn't dare spare a glance for Kai, but instead gazed directly into his sister's eyes. "Pull another stunt like that, and this rescue mission will have been in vain. We need to get out of here." He ordered her firmly, before turning on his heel and following the scent of Ares.
He was lucky there were no cats in the corridors he was running down. He didn't turn to see whether anyone was following him. This fight was over. He wasn't trying to be a coward by fleeing, he was just following orders. They were all running out of energy and if they stayed there any longer, they would all probably die. He began to pant as he saw Ares in front of him. Due to the other black wolf limping so heavily, Orion managed to catch up with him easily. "We're here!" He exclaimed in awe as he nosed the door open to reveal the bright sunlight. Orion couldn't believe how thankful he was to see the sky and the trees and the sun. He had only been inside for one hour, and yet it felt like a lifetime. How must Valkyrie and Ares feel? Feeling a cold shudder descend down his spine, Orion discarded the thought, and finally stepped into the fresh air. He turned to see if anyone else had managed to get out.

Harley spread his legs and kept his stance, his eyes narrowing as he served as much of a wall as he could. These cats were huge; he'd fought many off many times, but it never ceased to surprise him. Orion let out a few nasty words that could be worse than the wounds on Valkyrie's body before quickly finishing off a lion. Har winced and shook his head; that fight was their own. If Orion really wanted to start shit in here when they hadn't even left yet, that was his issue.
He was grateful Ryu had decided to stay with him to help with barricading. As felines attacked from as many sides as Harley had hairs, the large canine was fighting off as many as he could. A few got to Ryu as well, but the sudden scream of Kai being landed on caused both of them to forget their battles. Harley quickly rushed to Kai's side, still snapping the necks of a few smaller cats who dared get in the way of their escape. Ryu spoke, attempting to help her up, and as Kai responded, Harley let out a fearsome growl. "Shut up, like hell either of you are gonna die in this shithole," he responded, his teeth bared as he lunged at one of the wildcats that had gathered around them.
Valkyrie came back to help, but Harley glared at her and tried to push her away. "She's doing this for you, don't let it be in vain!" he barked before attempting to grab another wildcat to fling off of her. One dug its sharp claws in his back, causing him to howl as he thrashed to get it off. He then turned; there was nothing else any of them could do at this point. The most important thing was to stay alive in this fray. Orion was already leading Valk and Ares out of the corridors, and Harley gave one last look to the mess of cats fighting with Kai. His ears flew back in distress as he looked over at Ryu again, almost helplessly. Did they... were they really just going to leave her there?
"Hurry up and get out, I'll keep fighting 'em off until everyone's in the daylight," he finally said, turning back and rushing forward at a few of the cats on Kai. Stupid? Yes. She could be dead by now already. All he could smell was blood, but she had given him kind words before... he barely knew her, but like hell he'd try and let the cats kill her with nothing more than a nod.
ooc: sorry this is so late! school has been really a pain. hopefully i didn't screw anything up x.x

Once again Gus thought that Brooke made a mistake about her choice of the rescue teams leader. He wasn't completely sure about what to do. Kai had drawn the attention of four felines and Gus watched in horror as all four cats lunged at her at once.
Gusto's ears were flattened against his head as he watched Valk try to help her friend. He couldn't help but feel bad. He wanted to focus on getting Valk and her friend out of here; he felt as if he were abandoning Kai who, he feared, might not survive the attack. They needed to leave, before more came and killed them all, then what Kai did would be in vain.
"We have to leave now, or else this all would have been for nothing."
He looked to see where the male wolf was, stepped forward then waited for Valk. There probably wasn't too much they could do now, hopefully he wasn't making some kind of mistake he would regret later.
Gus would stay behind the two wolves to make sure no one tried to attack from behind. He kept a close eye on both former prisoners as he followed. "Go through the alleys, it should be easier that way."
A caracal tried to attack from one side but was easily thrown back. Gus pinned the feline to the ground as it fell, bit into its throat and quickly moved after his group. He defended himself and his comrades as best as he could until the scent of felines finally faded.
