"Speech!"
Unfortunately, the straight bit was one of the parts of the city that was incredibly hard to ignore. Autumn felt he was the only one left who saw the black path and instantly connected it with something horrible. Even during the spring, with clear skies, nice weather and the occasional flower proudly forcing it's way through the black rock, nothing could possibly save the image that face Autumn. Every time the coyote's paw lead him to this place, he automatically began feeling sick, but he could never force himself to leave right away. He never wanted to forget the Scavengers or the battle that took place in this spot, so he made himself stay, take in his surroundings, and remember every detail he could.
He had gone into the battle with Dawn, Vagabond, Arabella and Fenris of the Scavengers, while the other members of the group were off doing who-knows-what. Whatever they had been told to do. Autumn had never seen a feline prior to the battle, so, at the time, he was excited. Looking back, Autumn despises himself for how foolish he was. He had been so excited to see a cat and avenge his birth mother and help his pack mates, but the fact that his was about to dive head first into a battle never really sunk in.
With a ragged sigh, Autumn shook his head and began taking slow steps down the long stretch of black. The first cat he saw had been a small one. It had charged him and ended up hanging limp from the canine's jaws. His first kill had more or less been accidental, thinking back on it. He'd been so proud of himself, thinking he had done something revolutionary. The next feline he saw clearly sent his entire world up in flames.
Florence was the leader of Iris at the time. Autumn, of course, didn't know this. He had never seen a lion, so despite being told, he had no clue who she had been. If he had known, however, he wouldn't have started a fight with her. But he did, foolish as ever. But, to this day, Autumn was still proud of himself for managing to give the large cat a bite on the paw. He had actually bit the leader of Iris, and even now that still managed to get a small grin out of him. That was all he did, though. Bite her paw.
If he had ran away right then, maybe Vagabond and Arabella would have survived. Dawn had told him to flee the battle with her, and he didn't protest. It wasn't too long after the battle that Dawn had her litter, with only a single surviving pup. Dawn and Lee became the coyote's entire world. He's still not sure why he left. But he did, and eventually, after a while of leaving and returning, he came home to find Dawn was gone. He had wanted to stay with Lee after that, but ended up leaving again, for much longer than he had expected to be gone.
With a deep sigh, Autumn carefully lowered his body until he was laying on his stomach. With Lee of doing whatever Lee does during the day, the coyote was left with nothing to do. Hunting was pointless if you didn't need it, just a waste of food, and he didn't know anyone aside from Lee. With a quick shift of his back end, he was laying on his side. Might as well enjoy the sun while it's not too hot.
