"Speech!"
The day was warm as the large male walked through the zoo. It amused him to see the cages, the exhibits that had failed to hold in some of the most dangerous of animals. Like himself for instance. These cages could not hold him. He would've always had found a way to escape. Luckily he had no need. No. He was born in Iris. His only regret, even if he couldn't control the place of his birth. If it were up to him, Iris would burn in hell. Sure, he hated dogs as much as he hated Iris, but he would hate it even more if Iris actually won control of the city. Stupid bunch of cats who don't even remember those who died to help in the war. He snarled in anger, and then took a breath to calm down. He couldn't change the past. Nor would he want to if he could. Everything happens for a reason. That was his belief. The death of his family is what set Hades on his war path. It put a face to his destiny. Even if it killed him, he would make sure both Iris and Tempest pay up for Hades's loss. Some may say his reasoning is unfair, but he didn't give a rat's tail. It was how he saw the whole situation.
To him, life was a game, and so far he was the victor. He would always be the victor. He was Hades. He was a fighter. He was a survivor. He stopped in front of the big cat house, looking up at the bright sky with blue eyes. The weather was getting warmer, he could feel the sun warming his pale pelt. He turned his head to look at the big letters reading Big Cat Sanctuary and walked inside, curious. He looked at some of the exhibits, some with the large show windows broken, others cracked. When he got to one named for lions, he stopped. The glass was broken, and it was open to the sky, the warm spring air. He stepped forward and hopped over the glass, padding deeper into the lion's exhibit and saw a large flat rock. He sniffed at it curiously, jumping onto it, and realizing how warm the surface was. He flicked his tail and laid down, soaking up the warmth as he listened to the surrounding area as he closed his eyes, enjoying the sun as winter backed off for spring.

"speech!"
Sometimes, shit is just shit, she thought as she trod throughout the rundown remnants of the once great Hexasol Zoo. Of course, she had been born after those so called 'humans' had died out... and what remained of their city certainly did nothing to impress Mercy. Then again, the nihilistic coyote wasn't impressed by much of anything - the destruction of this long, drawn out war least of all. Oh, she was no fan of either pack herself. Born into Tempest but a long time abandoner, she had decided it was much easier to live alone than among the company of canines who were so fucking moronic she could hardly stand it. May God in all his false existence smite her if they won this war, which it seemed was in their favor. Iris, too, was not on her list of favorites. She'd been held captive by them once before, and the experience was far from pleasant. That being said, it didn't seem like they were getting very far anymore. The once powerful pride had begun to fall apart after Florence finally kicked the bucket.
Speaking of Iris, the undeniable smell of 'big cat' seemed to overwhelm Mercedes. Looking up and around at where she'd stumbled to, she realized she'd come across the large feline sanctuary. Lip curling in disgust, she paused at its entrance, her tail twitching ever so slightly as the righteous anger and bitterness swept through her at ten times the vigor. But then, her expression twisted into something of a smirk. These were cages used to hold these creatures captive. Imagine, watching a lion or tiger waste their pitiful life away inside bars. Fitting, she thought. Very befitting of their kind.
Her ears went erect at the soft patter of paws against rock, and at once, her head whipped around towards the lion exhibit. Morbid curiosity brought her to the cracked window which Hades had lept through only moments prior, and when she caught site of the feline laying about the flat rock, she snorted in contempt before letting out a bellowing laugh that revealed her location, seemingly without a care in the world, "You lazy piece of shit. You fuckin' cats only ever sleep and eat. What a pathetic excuse for a living thing. You'd be better off swimming in a pool of yer own blood."
Admittedly, she felt the unscratchable itch of desire strike her at the mere idea, but Mercy wasn't dumb either. A lion verses a coyote? There was an obvious victor in this matchup. No, had she wanted to kill him today she would have had to use more tact, but that didn't stop her from wishing she were just a little mightier... for the sake of bloodshed.
