The sun relentlessly bore down on the landscape below. Long, pink tongue lolled out of the side of the white canine's mouth. Little drops of saliva dribbled down it and landed in front of her silently. Within seconds of making contact with the pavement, the liquid evaporated. The female sighed heavily. Even baring a white coat this heat was unbearable. Dark brown eyes scanned the odd landscape around her. It was obviously all man made ruins. Large concrete cylinders surrounded her, providing little valuable shade. Surrounding those shapes were lots of other peculiar structures. Some like nothing the young female had seen before. Unfortunately, though there were multiple foreign things to observe there was no water. Water was important. Water was gone. Where was the water?
"Poe, dear. How are you doing this afternoon?"
The female's head jerked up. Finally, he was back! Kelt was back! His masculine tones filled her brain. Pleasure rippling off her in waves. "Kelt! You are back, oh how I've missed you! I thought you weren't ever going to return! How was your trip?" The questions escaped her muzzle like rapid fire. Her long, feathery tail beating behind her excitedly. Kelt was back. Kelt. Her Kelt. "Dear, my lady, please. You know I always travel off during the night hours. This is no news to you, and I always come back, sweetheart. Always." The sound of his voice comforted her and Poe let herself relax against the concrete structure. Curling up within herself, even though the outside temperatures were bitter. Kelt was back. She was safe. Kelt was here. Kelt didn't speak again for a long while, and Poe was okay with it. He was probably tired after traveling off. Exploring this new town, like she should be doing. It was just far to risky. Too many things could go wrong.
Poe's eyes flashed open, after what only seemed like seconds later. Something had startled her awake. Large ears pricked forward at attention, but no sounds out of the ordinary were heard. Instinct told her to look for Kelt, but she didn't want to awaken him. He had been busy the past few days, and she didn't want him to get grumpy. Not like the other one. She shivered at the thought of the other acquaintance she housed in her mind. That one scared her out of her mind. She shook softly, and whimpered. Maybe Kelt would hear here. Maybe he'd wake up and come comfort her. Kelt was there, he always was. But so was the other one. It was a constant raging war inside of her head. And most of the time, Poe was locked right in the middle of the battle. Nowhere to run, trapped insider of her own mind.
occ: encase you didn't read Poe's bio fully, Kelt is the little voice inside her head. And the 'other one' is too. :3 & sorry it sucks so bad, I'm a little rusty lol.

He didn't usually stray from Tempest territory, not since his mother had died at least. Bear had become determined, even more than before, to defend his land and his pack from the evil scum of Iris. It would be wrong to say he had matured fully, no despite turning two years old in a few months time, the brindle akita mix was still as hot-headed and arrogant as before. He still deemed himself to be popular and generally pretty badass, but his eyes had been opened to the crueler world out there. Bear was no longer ignorant to the threat felines posed, or the damage they could do; they had to be extinguished before they spawned more brats, and poisoned the planet with their disgusting evilness. For a long time, the young dog had mourned Nikita. She had been more than a mother to he and his litter, she had been their teacher, their guardian, their <i>friend</i>. Though vicious and harsh at times, the dark female had been overwhelmingly protective of her children. She had loved them despite her initial doubts, and in the end, Nikita had given her own life for the safety of Estelle. <br><br>
Zara had returned, and much to the family's delight she had given birth to a healthy litter of pups! Bear had not been quite sure how to behave around such tiny bodies before now ... usually it was he who was the youngest in the pack but as his nieces and nephew grew older, the brindle shepherd cross saw the pups as playmates rather than children of whom he should guard and advise. They were all good fun, except for Ismere that was. She was a strange, clingy girl who seemed not to have a personality of her own, instead she stuck to Zara's side at all times and avoided being alone at all costs. Still, Bear had grown fond of the sweet blonde girl and would protect her with the same ferocity as the others. They had given reason to stay strong despite the loss of his maternal figure. Hueso had fallen into a set of sadness and not even his grandchildren could save him from it, Bear missed the father he used to have. Brave, mischievous, sarcastic, full of life. Now it was rare to see an appearance from the white General, and it made his son's heart ache. Rech had left the moment the news of Nikita's death reached his ears, disappeared, vanished into thin air as if he had never existed. <br><br>
They were all hurting still, and Bear was trying to distract himself from his own life. Distraction, distraction, entertainment, something already! He felt as though he were leading a life that was pointless, wasting away before his very own eyes. In five months time he would become a warrior of Tempest and he would fight for his mother's honor, to bring the light of pride back to his father and to keep his sisters safe. For now however, it was an endless circle of tedious training and days spent thinking about the past, his future, the war, what was he going to do with his life? Bear knew he had to devote everything to Tempest, it was his last hope before he trailed down a path he did not wish to take. Suddenly, turning a corner he spied a lean, alabaster shedog and he paused. The red hot sun burnt down upon their pelts, the horizon but a shimmering vision of heat. The brindle male frowned; this girl, beautiful as she may be, looked distressed. Walking forward lazily, he sniffed a little, waltzed right up to this pretty stranger and cast his deep brown gaze over her slender muzzle. <b>"Howdy, miss. You ok?" </b>He flashed her a broad grin, hoping that something interesting would come of this meeting, for heck on earth he needed this. He need the distraction. <br><br>ooc: sorry it's horrible D:

It had only been a few minutes since Poe had awakened, and already the frame of a male canine was within her sights. Seconds after that he was speaking to her. It all happened so fast, Poe was a little dizzy trying to figure it all out. She sat up, eyes blinking rapidly. She desperately searched her mind for Kelt, but he was still missing. Still. Poe quickly came to the conclusion that she would have to handle this situation all on her own. "Hello," she choked out in a soft, feminine whisper. She felt self conscious and stupid almost as soon as she spit the last vowel out. Instinct told her to curl herself into a smaller form. However, this male didn't seem to want to harm her in any way. He seemed rather...nice. Maybe Kelt had been lying to her about the males in the real world. Maybe they were all just nice creatures.
A soft breeze filled with warm air ruffled her alabaster pelt, then she remembered he had asked if she was okay earlier. She never responded. If a canine could blush, the skin underneath her white fur would be blood red. Her dark eyes met his, round with innocence and wonder. "And by the way, I'm...okay. Thanks for asking, I was just taking a nap and had a bad...dream. Yeah, nothing too bad." Her voice got quieter around the words 'nothing too bad'. That part was a lie, and she wasn't sure why she even said it. The female flicked her right ear, ridding her mind of the thought. Swallowing hard she straightened herself up. She needed to not be so cowardly and be more strong, be herself. She wasn't going to have any real friends if she didn't try. Well, that what Kelt said at least. What did he know anyways? He wasn't even visible.
"Watch yourself, Poe. Don't get too confident. He only wants your body."
Kelt's voice. Liquid smooth it was as it poured itself over her brain. Gaining almost full control of her body again. If you knew her well enough, it was clear that Kelt was back just by looking at her eyes. Her stomach turned in excitement, but also a tad bit of disappointment. Maybe this male was a bad idea. After all, Kelt was pretty intelligent and if he didn't think it was a good idea, it probably wasn't. And she didn't want to mate with him! If that was all he wanted she was out. That was rude and she didn't have time for that. A small touch of Kelt influenced disgust formed inside of her. Kelt was right, all males were like this. On the outside, only Poe's brow furrowed slightly and her jaw clenched a little tighter. She was good at masking the constant battles that were raging in her mind. Some days she was just sick and tired of it. Sick and tired of being abnormal. Though, awkwardness took over the female. She had to speak to the dog. Find out his motives. Find out if Kelt was right.
"Would you mind taking a walk with me?"

Bear stepped a little closer before pausing again, one paw still held in the air as if contemplating upon moving further. There was something off about this pretty girl, that was evidently clear, his sharp ears twitching slightly at the sound of her frail vocals. She seemed shy, and the brindle akita-mix couldn't help the grin that lit up his pointed face. It was endearing and instantly this made his tail wag from side-to-side, nodding too. Yet there seemed to be something more than cautiousness beneath those dark brown eyes, as though she were troubled or afraid. Bear sighed a little, internally pushing away any inquisitive thoughts; he hadn't come here to listen to all her woes .. he needed a distraction and goddamn this was a good one. How Rech would have loved to hear about this ... except his taller brother had left months ago, almost six now. Bear frowned, and was jolted out of his pestering thoughts by the sound of the female's voice again.
He tilted his head, it certainly didn't sound as though she was alright but still he ignored it. He wasn't the type to act as someone's agony aunt! "If you say so, " Bear smiled with an attempt to charm, "The name's Bear by the way, ... and you are?" The shepherd cross beat his curled tail against the hot air, his brown eyes gleaming playfully. Oh how oblivious the juvenile was, how her inner turmoil went unnoticed by his youthful vision. Naivety, it appeared, had not left him entirely. A part of Bear knew he should feel bad, knowing that the only reason he was talking to her now was because of her beautiful appearance, but at the same time the male was too mentally young to be thinking about breeding. Instinct told him to be interested, and his eyes lapped up her looks but the thought of mounting any girl of any kind secretly terrified him. Still, there was nothing like a little flirting to take your mind off of life's troubles, right?
When the German Shepherd asked him whether he wanted to go for a walk, Bear was slightly taken aback, and for a moment he stood there with a vacant expression plastered across his face. He had never expected it to be that easy! Most girls he met turned down their noses straight away, they never even gave him a chance and so his heart swelled a little with contentment. She's a nice gal! The sweltering sun was making him feel a little woozy, and he glanced longingly at the shade on the other side of the street. "Abso-doodley-lutely!" He pounced forward, nudging her white shoulder before strolling forward onto the pavement, before turning his head. "Lets roll, missy." Admittedly, a part of him felt a little nervous; he'd never done this before but mostly Bear was excited. For the first time in a long time he felt a glow of happiness.
