CEPHEUS.
3 - male - feline - domestic - none - none
Personality: Cepheus is a much more joyous and outgoing persona than his brother. More of a joker and a trickster, he often drags his brother into situations that he wouldn't normally go into. He thinks he is very funny, rightly so, but can become tiresome because of his arrogance. Indeed, he is known to be rather cocky, and often gets on other males' nerves, his brother the only exception. Despite this very laid-back attitude to life, Ceph knows when to be serious and can be very caring, especially for his twin brother. To strangers though, he appears aloof, very arrogant, and definitely insensitive to other's feelings. He can be very rude to others when they approach him or his brother with the wrong attitude, but very friendly as well. Much like his brother, he can have very sharp comebacks and often backs his brother in a duo of nasty comments. Ceph isn't as intuitive or perceptive as his brother, but can read the latter like an open book, something that is mutual with the twins. Much of a wimp, he acts very macho but the minute there is a conflict, he will lie and act to get out of it, just like Aries. Extremely flirtatious with females, he is the image of a casanova, hitting on any she-cat pretty enough to catch his eye. He isn't as smart as his brother though, and leaves the mastermind plans to him. He has an enormous ego, just like his twin, but is more enclined to forgive than his sharper brother. He has a soft spot for youngsters, something that he often hides because he feels the need to appear strong and macho. Just as determined as his twin, he will stop at nothing to achieve his ends and those of Aries, for which he would go to the end of the world and back. Their relationship is rather interesting; both can't bear to be farther than a few feet away, and they form almost a single entity, often talking at the same time or completing each other's sentences.
Appearance: Cepheus has much the same build as his twin, lithe and flexible. He is an excellent runner, very speedy and having good endurance. Luckily for him, he is very agile and has great reflexes. The same height as his twin, he has very similar proportions with the long legs and long bodies. His tail is long, just like his twin, and his balance is excellent. Exactly like his brother, his paws are slightly too large for his legs, but it helps him with balance. His claws are needle-like, strong and hooked. His coat is of the same tortoiseshell pattern as his twin, the flaming ginger exactly at the same places as him. His traits resemble his twin in every way, except for his eyes. They, unlike his brother, are mostly green, with a fine lacing of gold on the outer edge. That is the only difference between both cats, which is why only a very observant stranger can tell them apart.
History: This, is their story.
On a pleasant summer day, a she-cat gave birth to two small kittens. Their little forms squirmed and dragged themselves towards a teat to feed, only to find that there wasn't any. No matter how much they squealed, not one drop of milk came anywhere close to their hungry mouths. The mother was nowhere to be found.
The little bundles of fur almost died that day, if it hadn't been for an elderly queen who had found them, and painstakingly carried them both back to her nursing daughter, who had just given birth to stillborn kits and had lots of milk to spare. The she-cat was delighted, but slightly saddened by the fact that they weren't her own. Either way, she took good care of them, feeding them and raising them as if they were her own, spanking them when they were naughty and so on. She was an excellent mother, and the two kits grew strong and healthy with her care. They were both very close, hardly ever arguing, sticking together all the time. It seemed they were perfect for each other; each agreed with the other, they liked the same things and worked together to get them.
Then came that thunderstorm. Actually, several thunderstorms one after the other. The rain was so great that the river overflowed, inundating the den they were in. They had been sleeping when the water suddenly rushed in, taking them all by surprise. The young mother saved the kits, who were only a few months old by swimming to the staircase with one of the two kits in her mouth, Cepheus left trying desperately to stay afloat before the mother came back for him. Both almost drowned, and young Aries could only watch as his twin brother and adoptive mother struggled for their lives. They both made it, but the elderly she-cat was no where to be seen. Despite being exhausted, the queen swam back into the den again, looking for the feeble she-cat. As she swam around and called her name, the rotted rooftop collapsed in on that room. The kits, shivering from cold and anxiety, waited for hours for her to join them again. She never did.
When finally they decided they couldn't stay there, the twins climbed to the rooftops in search of something to eat, as they were starving. They stayed up there for days, waiting for the waters to recede, catching any insect that came anywhere close to them. That was how they survived until the muddy flood water finally decided to go back into it's river.
The first time they ventured down onto the asphalt roads, they were greeted by a sight of destruction and decay. They would have died, being three months old, if a labrador mother hadn't passed by there with her litter of pups. The pups, older than the two kits, were two males and one female. The canine, a soft-hearted and well-meaning dog, decided to take the two little kittens in, much to the dismay of the pups. Whilst the female was very agreeable with them, both males were resentful that their mother had chosen to take in these little cats. They made life very difficult for the two twins, who learned to count on each to defend themselves from the repeated verbal abuse from the pups. When the young dogs were confronted with such acid comebacks, they decided to use their brawn as a weapon, instead of words.
Needless to say, both cats were tiny compared with the almost one year old pups. The mother knew nothing of the repeated bullying on the kits, and she, as was the youngest female pup, very caring towards them. The female knew that they were being bullied by the two males, but didn't do anything about it otherwise she would get attacked as well. Life became very hard for the twins. Yet, they managed to find moments of happiness in each other's company, and they never left each other's sides. They grew dependant on each other, anxious any time the other was too far away. At six months old, the two kittens decided that enough was enough, and told the mother of the pups everything before leaving to go on their own way.
They learned to hunt and survive in the city full of rubble, hiding places and escape routes. Through their frequent explorations, they have come to know the city very well, even in the pride and Tempest territories, where their excursions were short but excitement-packed.
One day, they came across a middle-aged tom, with which they struck up conversation. This male, they couldn't help on notice, had Ceph's green eyes laced with gold. The two cats later discovered that this cat was in fact their grandfather, and that both their parents were still alive. This triggered a search for the parents who had been absent all their lives. And that is the goal they are still pursuing today, along with ending this war.
