Sawyer
4 - Male - Canine – Tibetan Mastiff - Loner – N/A
Personality: Not lazy, but not the most energetic either, Sawyer is a pretty calm dog. It takes quite a lot of pestering to anger him, and quite a bit more to get him to act on said anger. Sawyer doesn’t like to cause any problems, and hates choosing sides. When it comes to arguments, unless he has a very strong opinion about it, he’d rather be left out of it.
Sawyer, to be put in simplest terms is a gentle giant. He cares strongly for canines and felines alike, and would never intentionally hurt either of them. He hopes his size and appearance are enough alone to get him out of a fight, but when it is inevitable, he tends to run. Although he values the lives of others, he’d rather live a coward than die a hero.
His cowardly behavior has caused him to lose the respect of many, including him self. Sawyer has gotten other dogs killed before because of his failure to stand ground. He found his cowardly behavior harmless in the past, but now it acts as a chain around his neck, preventing him from enjoying his life in its entirety. He often regrets his cowardly behavior, but is unable to find the courage to stop it.
A fear of rejection. This defines Sawyer. He will do absolutely anything to make up for his cowardliness. Even if it is stupid, as long as it will please others, he will do it. This leads to him often being pushed around, used, or abused by many others he meets. Even when he realizes they only treat him like dirt, he will continue to let them push him around, just in fear of disappointing them. It is a painful yet absolute need for him to be liked by EVERYONE he meets. If someone doesn’t like him, he can’t get over it. It chews away at him to almost no end. Sawyer constantly thinks about what he did wrong, always assuming the fault is his.
Appearance: See photo.
History: Sawyer was born into the Tempest pack, a cub of two pure-bred Mastiffs who had once lived in a human home. It was clear from the start he didn’t belong. He constantly asked questions about why the dogs and cats were fighting, and answers were constantly unsatisfactory. Members of the Tempest Pack constantly tried to hammer the idea into him that dogs and cats just couldn’t get a long, and cats needed to be exterminated from Hexasol. But Sawyer couldn’t grasp the idea, why was fighting so necessary? Couldn’t everyone just get along? It became clear that this idea was widely unaccepted within the Tempest Pack. Sawyer’s parents often tried to protect him from his own childish innocence, often telling him to keep his thoughts to himself. Other pups often pushed him around because he seemed different and weird.
As a juvenile, sawyer was very quiet and introverted. He was still subject to lots of teasing by peers, but no longer paid any mind to it. Other pack members were sure he was useless, and often tried to make him run off on his own accord before he became a handicap for the pack. Despite this, he stayed around, helping with elders and pups instead of hunting or fighting.
One unfortunate day, he was sent out to hunt with a couple other dogs. They were ambushed by the Iris pride, and he hid while the other two dogs he was with fought. One was seriously injured, and the other died. When he returned the news spread like wildfire, and he was immediately banished for his cowardly behavior. Sawyer has been a loner for just under a year now, and feels much better than he ever had within the Tempest pack.
