(The Time of Angels) Name: Terra Gender: Female Age: 2 years Species: Peregrine falcon
(Flesh and Stone)
Appearance:
Terra is a peregrine falcon, characterized by her dark, blue-grey feathers on the back and light brown, almost white, feathers on her chest, marked with spots of dark grey. Her sharp beak differs in the colours yellow, blue and dark grey while her big predator eyes are black. Her claws are razor sharp, always ready as a weapon against enemies or a tool when hunting prey. Peregrine females are often 30 % bigger than males, but Terra is quite small for the breed, not living up to these standards. The case is that Terra stands 14 inches tall which is quite far from the 23 inches which her kind can become. This is not a thing that saddens her anymore though, because if there’s one thing she can do, it is flying - at least as fast as any other peregrine. A noticeable feature on Terra is the scar across her chest which she received from a snowy owl that attacked her.
Personality: Terra is still a quite young falcon which makes her adventurous and curious, always full of energy and ready to try out something new. This results in her getting easily bored and to prevent this she sometimes flies off to spend some time away from Antigone and the rest of the Novus. She loves Antigone and will always stand up for her, being quite bold and loud despite her small size.
As said, Terra strays afar at times but the truth is that she doesn’t like being away from Antigone in more than a few days and therefore returns again quite quickly though she seldom will confess being this soft. Since Terra is neither canine nor feline, she doesn’t understand the war in Hexasol. She thinks it’s nonsense and that it must be stopped, therefore sides with Novus, hoping she’ll be able to help the gang with knocking some sense into Tempest’ and Iris’ heads.
Terra knows that both felines and canines can be dangerous for her if she’s not careful, but she’s confident that she’s able to manoeuvre them before they can catch her. If there’s one thing she really fears, it is big owls, as for example the great horned owl, because of their silent flight and their reputation of killing peregrine youngsters.
(Partners in Crime)
Associated Character: Antigone
History: Terra was hatched in her parents’ nest on Strangler’s mountains, surprisingly coming after her father in height though she was a female. She was a few inches shorter than her two brothers which always irritated her direly, but after a few weeks it should show that her small size had nothing to say in the matter of flying. Though her brothers’ wings were wider than hers, she was still just as quick and agile, always able to take better advantage of the winds than them. As with all falcons, the air was her element, and here she seemed to excel.
But just a week before being ready to leave her parents to start her own life, at about 9 weeks old, a great horned owl attacked and killed one of her brothers, claiming he’d tried to hunt in her area. Her parents hunted the owl away, but nothing could be done for her brother who died shortly after the attack. This wasn’t her last encounter with a big owl, because one and a half year later, Terra herself was attacked by a big owl. The male snowy owl flew into her as she ate her prey, unable to hear the predator on the silent wings before it was too late. The owl scratched her chest with his razor claws, giving her the scar across her chest. Antigone then interfered, crushing the male owl’s snow-white wing and thereafter killing it. As Terra recovered, Antigone hunted for both of them, giving food to the young peregrine until she could fend for herself again. But during those few days, they’d already started to develop something close to friendship, and though the dual-toned dog didn’t like it to begin with, Terra stubbornly followed her in her unknown quest, which soon resulted in them both enjoying each other’s company.
