Fall didn't stand a chance against winter. It's colors were already fading from the frost that was savagely conquering the lands. Any wind that passed through was bitter and cold, holding no mercy for any bodies they would effect. Greeting them head on, the wolf trudged forward slowly, sluggishly. Splayed cuts and gashes covered her once well-kept brown coat that was tipped with white. Every movement was quite similar to spilling a glass of neverending wine into the snow.
A front limb was tightly propped to her chest, it was too much pain to walk on something that was broken. Her expression held a sort of emptiness, void of any happiness and focused only on defense. She had found herself too close to a den of a pack a few yards back. Before she even realized, they had her completely surrounded. The only thing they saw her as, was a threat that deserved termation. It was easy to understand the behavior, being of the same species. But it was hard to understand why they had demonstrated such on a seven month loner like herself. Were the hearts of others dying off, like this world?
A while ago, something happened to it - something bad. For it was a sickness that began with the humans, spreading among them and picking their lives off one by one. Their absence wasn't minded by most, actually, it was appreciated. Such a destructive and consuming race they were. But things hadn't stopped there. The sickness somehow became present in plants, the animals.. Everything. Only a few genetically immune had survived, like herself. Wasn't really much to hold thankfulness for. Loosing everything and everyone you ever cared about made it easy to simply.. Loose yourself.
It wasn't long before her gait grew unsteady and she collapsed, wincing at the stinging sensation that the landscape sent to her circumstance. In a feeble struggle, she tried to get back up. There was no sucess in her wake, but that couldn't be accepted. There was this burning passion in her soul, her heart, her mind to keep going, because she knew there was a paradise.
A paradise that she had to find.
