ATOM.
three - male - feline - mixed shorthair - loner
Personality: Atom is perhaps the most organised, intellectual creature you will ever have the (mis)fortune to meet. Nobody really knows what made him different than everyone else. He often boasts about how he is 'felis novus', a separate species away from the average house cat. He is a superior version of a cat and he and other 'normal' cats do not compute. Atom has yet to make the discovery of another felis novus. He refuses to believe anyone who tells him that he is crazy, and instead just weeps for their stupidity. It pains him to be around anyone with a significantly lower IQ than him. He cannot fathom how some cats (and dogs, don't get him started on dogs!) can be so stupid.
Atom has a set routine. Everyday is marked out on an imaginary planner. For example, he eats twice a day if he can. Tuesday is fish night, meaning he will go to the local pond, river or lake and catch a suitable fish. Atom claims it is for his bowels, and if he eats something that is not on his routine, his stomach gets sore. Unfortunately, for a cat, this happens far too often for Atom to be happy with it. He often has to make do with what he has got, and Atom despises this. Along with this, his sleep pattern is also strict. Atom sleeps for precisely two hours, then has two hours awake, then sleeps for another two hours. It is healthy for a cat to have sixteen hours of sleep per twenty-four hours, and Atom tries to accomplish this everyday. However, this also proves to be difficult when he is often woken by idiots.
One thing that Atom utterly hates is physical contact. He cannot stand the touch of his skin against another's. He only does it in an emergency and even then he feels he must sanitise himself afterwards. Atom will thoroughly clean himself twice a day with his tongue. River water is far too dirty to wash himself, sea water is far too salty and stings his eyes and don't get him started on pond water! Atom knows exactly where his tongue has been. It can be very straining to understand Atom and get along with him. But do not fear! Atom does not have true friends. He cannot deal with the social expectations of having friends, and often keeps himself to himself.
When Atom does find himself in a social situation, you will find him to be very awkward. He cannot lie and feels it is utterly wrong to do such a terrible thing. If he is told to keep a secret, he will be unable to. If someone cracks a joke, Atom will find it difficult to understand. Sarcasm is his worst enemy, and he often mistakes sarcasm for truth. He is getting better with his sarcasm detection, however he can still make a fool of himself.
His Spot
Do not get Atom started on His Spot. Wherever Atom goes, he must have a place to sit. He will always eat his meal in the same train carriage on the railway, on the exact same third seat on Coach C. He always chooses His Spot carefully. He must not be too cold, nor too warm. He must be near foul smells, nor have to strain his neck to speak with you. He must have the correct amount of sunlight, but not so much to squint. Be warned. Never sit in Atom's Spot.
Appearance: Atom is an extremely slender young cat. No matter how much he eats, this tabby cat doesn't seem to put it on. Other than that, Atom looks like a pretty average feline (not that he is average - he is far from average). Atom has pale green eyes and a mottled, tabby, brown coat. He has no scars to name - Atom makes sure to be extremely careful whilst hunting and avoids dangerous situations at all costs. He has very acute hearing due to his pricked ears. He can hear more than the average cat. No one can whisper around him without Atom hearing. His gait is usually very precise. He walks from A to B. No meandering. He rarely runs, unless extremely excited or hunting. This is mainly because he is useless at running.
History: Atom was different when he was born among his brother and sister. He was the first to walk, the first to speak, the first to have any kind of decent conversation. Of course, a mother like Atom's saw this right away. She wasn't the brightest spark, but she understood a prodigy when she saw one. However, there was no place for a clever cat in the world. Already, by his two siblings, Atom was ridiculed and bullied. He despised how much they taunted him, but he never let go of his dreams. He was clever and that was all Atom needed in life. Although his mother dreamed for him to find a nice young girl, Atom refused to let sex get in the way of his mind.
It was when he was seven months old that Atom left. Both siblings stayed with their mother whilst Atom headed for more cities and discover new things. He did not look back. Atom enjoyed his mother's company. She grounded him like no other cat could. However, their part of the woods was just too small for Atom. The crazy wackadoodle found many cities, some habituated, some not. At the age of two years old, Atom finally settled in the city of Hexasol. It was a dirty city with annoying, stupid canines, but he had found a decent spot and it was almost nice.
Not much has happened in Atom's life since then. He has not seen his mother, brother or sister since he left, and he has no wish to visit them. Instead he hopes to carry on doing what he does best: routine. He avoids social contact and instead spends the days thinking.
