He decided that: if Lyra wouldn't approve of him joining Tempest when the delusional coyote was two years old, she certainly wouldn't approve now. The Iris prides' situation was somewhat similar to what happened to Lexis, from what Gus had heard. Iris was looking for a new leader but took too long and were broken apart.
Gusto wasn't sure what to expect after Tempest discovered they had finally won. He expected them to celebrate but, after that he had no clue. Gus wasn't expecting his pack to start to turn into their former enemies.
Tempest now had more prisoners than they usually kept; they were enslaving and starving feline prisoners just like Iris used to do to the canines. He would have been okay if it was just former Iris cats, it could be to make sure they didn't try to bring their pride back, but he saw a large group of Tempest dogs attacking a cheetah who wasn't part of the pride.
He would have lest the moment he found out they were starting to oppress every feline in the city, but he couldn't. Gusto had grown too attached to some of the canines in Tempest; he cared about what his friends would think of him if he just left. He was now a well respected soldier, surely someone would notice that he was gone? Would they call him a coward or traitor if he left the city now?
Gus decided to help with patrolling at night. Right now he was walking through the dark cemetery, occasionally stopping to sniff for any unfamiliar scents. He was tempted to ignore any unfamiliar scents and let them do as they please, that could be his way of getting back at Tempest for changing for the worst. He couldn't though, those intruders would probably hurt the ones he cared about. That included Ryu.
He approached the asylum, stopping to sniff and scan the area before hiding himself in a dark spot. Gus layed down on his belly and put his paws on his forearms. It looked like he was asleep but he was actually wide awake. He was waiting and listening for anyone bold enough to try and sneak in.

She shouldn’t be here. She really shouldn’t be here. But she was anyways. Virgil hadn’t appointed any scouting or sabotages lately – perhaps he wanted the storm to settle a bit before they jumped into action? The Tempest Pack had gotten so much power lately, it was dangerous for felines to just wander about in the city on their own. Even the lands around it could be dangerous if a feline wasn’t careful enough. Antigone had seen it with her own eyes. Not the big battle between Iris and Tempest which she’d only heard about, but she’d seen Tempest Soldiers attacking and both killing and enslaving felines of all kinds. The balance was broken, and Hexasol was now an even more dangerous place to roam than ever before.
And yet still she’d come to the storm’s eye.
It was dark – her only chance of proper cover, while she searched the cemetery’s ground. Above she could from time to time hear the low sound of Terra’s wings. She was glad she’d taken the female peregrine with her tonight – Terra would notice any approaching creature long before Antigone would. It was somewhat reassuring though the dualtoned canine still knew she had to be careful. Especially for one canine. Bear. They’d been so close as brother and sister when she’d been in the pack. Now she feared he might kill her if he found her sneaking around. She couldn’t trust him anymore. No matter how much she still loved him, no matter how much she missed him, Antigone knew she couldn’t let herself be fooled by any trick he might offer her. Her brother had probably become the most dangerous enemy she could ever have, because the close relationship they’d once shared had now been crushed, and she was unsure of how this had affected him. Not to mention his rank as a General. She knew she should be proud of him, and she was in some way, but it also made her fear him even more. As General, Bear needed to be a good example. He couldn’t just let her go if he found her.
But truth be told, this little suicidal trip under the moon wasn’t about Bear. It was about someone else. A canine whom she missed just as much as her brother, if not even more. It was Gusto she was looking for. She hated herself for not having said goodbye to him. She’d just left which was really rude of her. She could all too well imagine how awful it must feel to just wake up one morning to realize one of your friends had vanished – without even knowing where your friend had gone. Was he mad at her? Was he worried? Antigone wasn’t sure, but the worst of all would be if he didn’t care. That would definitely be the best for him, she knew that, but she was all too selfish to hope for that. However selfish it was of her, she hoped he’d been thinking about her.
She knew it was stupid of her to think she could find him out here. But… perhaps she could find a fairly fresh trace of her. She’d like to find out if he was okay in this mess going on in the city… what if… the thought suddenly clenched hard in her chest. She hadn’t thought of it before, but now it was striking through her mind. What if he’d been hurt in the battle against Iris? Oh no… what if Gusto had been killed and she didn’t even know of it!? Panic reached her. No, no, no. Her searched for his scent intensified rapidly as panic rose in her chest. She’d heard of Bear since the attack, so he should be fine. The same for her nieces since they were too young to go to battle. But Gusto was a gray zone for her, she’d heard nothing about him. Come on, come on, please nose find something real quick!
Her body shook with relief when she found it. A fresh scent of the male coyote she’d been looking for. “Oh silly Anti, of course nothing bad’s happened,” she whispered to herself while trying to calm herself down. She’d just been working herself up over nothing which made her feel stupid. But rather that than finding nothing… She brushed it aside. Gusto was fine and everything would be okay. Now she could just sniff a bit around to see if she could find out if anything had changed about him and then she could peacefully go back to the Novu… She’d been so relieved when finding Gusto’s scent that she hadn’t realized how fresh it was. He’s just been here, she thought. Should she follow his scent and find him? Well… it couldn’t hurt, could it? Terra flew with her as she stalked toward the Asylum in which way Gusto’s scent went. Her heart started to beat harder in her chest as she came nearer the Asylum, but suddenly she wasn’t thinking about it anymore.
Because Gusto was there, basically right in front of her, sleeping. She was hiding behind some bushes as she looked at him. Should she show herself? She looked up to gaze at Terra. No one was yet nearby, but she knew she had to be quick about it, if she was to step forward. But what if he would sound the alarm? Couldn’t that be the end of her? Reckless, Antigone chose to believe that if it should come to that, Terra would be quick enough to assist her in a fight so she could escape, and keep her way clear so she could reach the pack’s boarders. Except from the fact that practically everywhere in Hexasol right now was under Tempest’ watchful eye, but she chose to leave that fact out for now.
With that, she slowly stepped out of her hiding place. “Gusto?” she whispered. A lump caught in her throat, and she didn’t know what more to say. In fact, right now she was unsure of how he would even react on her presence.

As he lay there pretending to sleep, he continued to think. He couldn't blame Antigone for leaving; In reality Tempest wasn't any better than Iris, he could see now why the pack of canines received so much criticism. Anti probably knew that she had some canines in the pack that still cared for her, but she still left. Gus didn't think he deserved the respect he had gained. He was too afraid to leave the friends he had made behind, even though they would probably do just fine without him. He now wishes that he had been chosen to lead the pack, he could have tried to change his pack mates' view on felines.
After a while Gusto started to doze off. He was half asleep but he didn't acknowledge everything that went on around him. He didn't acknowledge the faint sound of wings above him. He did, however, take notice of a voice from somewhere whispering his name. The whisper roused him from his sleep. Slowly he sat up on his haunches. He would have brushed off the voice as nothing more than a dream until he heard the sound of rustling nearby.
He stood up and turned in the direction he could hear rustling. It was dark but he could see the outline of a figure before him. Gusto was instantly confused. This stranger was the source of the voice. There was an intruder her but why would they want to wake him? And how did they know his name? He wanted to be famous but he didn't think he was that well known by now.
He cautiously took a step toward the stranger, his expression was confused yet stern. "Who-" He started until he took note of the strangers' scent. This was no stranger, but a friend who he had thought about since discovering she had left. The first legit goofy smile he had shown in a while suddenly appeared on his face. "Anti?" His tail began to wag as he walked closer to her. "Where did you go? Are you alright? Where are you living now?" He started to ask her one question after the other. He wasn't angry with her. He worried about her ever since he found out she left, even though he saw her as a strong like Brooke.
Gus glanced behind him then looked back ahead then ran past Anti, gesturing for her to follow. He wasn't sure how the others would react. Even though Antigone was once a part of Tempest they would probably still consider her an intruder.
He stopped a safe distance away from the asylum, hoping no one would decide to check the area Gus and Anti were in.
